Michael R. Fraley

Mike Fraley is a career peace officer who retired as a full-time firearms instructor from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Academy after 25 years of service. After that, he served as a full-time police supervisor for over five years at his local police department deep in Appalachian Perry County. His law enforcement service included the ranks of Deputy, Corporal, Detective, Village Police Officer, Lieutenant, and Captain. He has worked assignments including patrol, corrections, training, FTO, mounted unit, auto theft, warrants and extraditions, and elsewhere in the detective bureau. He has a special love of horses and has received training and experience in equine law enforcement operations, including search and rescue. His extensive firearms training includes the Glock Pistol Armorer’s Course, Smith & Wesson Revolver Armorer, IALEFI Master Instructor Workshop, DTI / John Farnam Advanced Pistol, Shotgun & Urban Rifle Course, Action Target Academy Patrol Rifle Instructor Course, Sig Sauer Pistol Armorer Course, OPOTA Semi Auto Instructor Course, OPOTA Revolver Instructor Course, OPOTA Shotgun Instructor Course, and the OPOTA Rangemaster Course. Mike served honorably as an enlisted soldier in the infantry and then retired as a Captain of Field Artillery from the Ohio Army National Guard. He was then commissioned into the Ohio Military Reserve, served and retired again, this time as a Colonel from the MP branch. He has been a certified NRA basic pistol instructor and taught civilian concealed carry. He continues to hold a special deputy sheriff commission and has worked special details for his agency including training, traffic, and VIP protection. Mike is working with On Guard Defense Training Center primarily handling the annual OPOTC Law Enforcement Requalification Program for peace officers and qualified former officers under HR 218.
