Ohio Concealed Carry Courses

On Guard Defense offers two options for students wishing to satisfy Ohio Concealed Handgun License (CHL) requirements. 
Whether you prefer traditional classroom instructor-led training or an online course, we can help!
Option 1: Single-Day Instructor-Led Training
On Guard Defense Ohio Concealed Carry


OGD offers instructor-led training that consists of a minimum of six (6) hours of classroom instruction followed by two (2) hours on the range.  Classes are designed to meet the needs of both novice and experienced shooters and includes instruction on:
  • Essential gun safety rules
  • Different types of pistols and which one is best for you
  • The basics of ammunition
  • The fundamentals of pistol shooting
  • Different shooting positions
  • The most common shooting errors
  • Proper gun cleaning and maintenance
  • How to maintain your skills
  • Live-fire range instruction

Upon successful completion of this course, students receive a certificate to be used toward making application for an Ohio Concealed Handgun License (CHL).

We'll provide student packets, firearm rental and ammunition, eye & hearing protection rental, beverages, lunch & snacks.

Cost:  $125.00  Summer Special thru 8/31 - $99 / person

Option 2:  Online Classroom/Onsite @ Range
American Firearms Training (AFT) Ohio Defensive Handgun Course: Knowledge, Skills & Law

OGD has partnered with American Firearms Training (AFT) Corporation to provide the option for students to take the classroom portion of the Ohio CHL training at their own pace and schedule, in the comfort of their own home or anywhere else they have access to an Internet connection.

Students begin with the online module which takes 6-7 hours minimum to complete.  Upon successful completion of the online module, the student schedules an appointment for the required range time held at OGD Training Center with a ShootSafe certified instructor.

The student is required to bring government-issued photo I.D. with name and address, firearm that can be safely operated, 100 rounds of ammo for that firearm, eye and ear protection and ball cap.
